We were thrilled to welcome Tom Symondson, CEO of Ageing Australia, along with Ian Poalses, QLD State Manager and Megan Hobson for a special visit to our Burnie Brae Centre in Chermside. Their visit was a great opportunity to showcase the work we do and foster stronger connections with like-minded individuals and organisations committed to improving the lives of seniors.

This visit came after our Club Respite Team was honoured with an award from Ageing Australia last year for the 'Seniors Write to Seniors' pen pal project. The team’s dedication to creating meaningful connections between seniors caught the attention of Ageing Australia, and they were eager to see firsthand the impact of our initiatives and learn more about our programs.

Our CEO, Andrew Watson, and Head of Care Services, Aynsley Johnson, had the pleasure of guiding Tom, Ian, and Megan through the Burnie Brae Centre. We kicked off the day with some energising morning exercises and engaging table tennis matches at Club Respite, which were filled with plenty of smiles and laughter. The physical activities set a positive tone for the day and showcased the fun, social environment we foster for our community members.

Afterwards, we toured our Healthy Connections Clinic and Community Centre, where we highlighted the range of services available to support seniors in our area. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for insightful conversations about the future of community care, including the upcoming aged care reforms and how they will affect the delivery of services. We discussed how these changes could impact aged care and explored ways we can adapt to best support our clients in the evolving landscape.

It was an inspiring and productive visit, and we’re excited about the potential collaborations ahead. We look forward to continuing to build on the relationships with Ageing Australia and other key partners to ensure we’re providing the best possible support for our community during this time of change.
